Magick Balay is one of the most creative and talented minds in the world of magic. You know him from his Blue Crown releases Centrifugal and Four Quarters, his appearances on Reel Magic and you might have been lucky enough to see him work the counter at Fantasma in New York City.
An now he's back with a new Blue Crown release! Trailer: http://thebluecrown.com/magic-tricks/cia-dvd.html CIA is a versatile utility device that allows you to read the thoughts of your spectator and gain hidden information. The brainchild of Magick Balay, CIA includes custom-made gimmicks that can be used for a variety of powerful effects. DVD + Custom Gimmicks Magick will teach you 3 stunning routines that can be used with CIA - a card divination, a book test, and a red/black card separation. He also covers 3 bonus effects and several tips and tricks to apply the principles taught in CIA to your real-world performances. |

I have this. I don't think this is the first time this method has been used. In fact, I would say that this might be one of the oldest methods. If you watch the demo carefully, you might get a sense of how this is done, particularly with the booktest version.
Having said that, the material used is quite expensive on the internet and the DVD does a good job explaining several ways to use this method. Some of his methods take a bit of guts, by putting the gimmick in the hands of the participant. However, he teaches methods in the participant's hands and in your hands. He also shows a clever way to end clean in the booktest. Given the thought he has put into a very old method, modified using more modern technology, I think this is a pretty good DVD. He has obviously thought through various ways to use this method. The bonus routine is really very good. I can't discuss it without giving away the method, but I really liked it. I have come up with a very powerful method based on what he has done that allows you to be clean right away and hand the participant the book with the card as a book marker right away and they can freely inspect both. If you have the effect, send me a PM with the secret to the method, and I will send you my two cents (remember, two cents aren't what they used to be worth). KJ |

Great to see another release by ol' Magick himself!
Is CIA similar at all to Kranzo's G****** G***?
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.
