Beowulf T. Wonderbunny and I do a few overnighters a year as we work libraries or music festivals. Beo has a carrier for this, plastic with a gated end and lots of air flow, but the floor is just plastic. I layer the floor with newspaper and change it frequently, but overnight it is not a good solution to spilled water, pellets, and poop.
I searched for wire mesh similar to his duplex at home: wide enough grid to allow stuff to drop through but small enough for him to walk on comfortably. I couldn't find anything until I came across a cookie cooling rack at the local Walmart. The length was perfect, and I cut one side down to fit the width. Now the newspaper goes in the bottom, the rack sits on its legs above it, and Beowulf is dry and clean in the morning. Tried it last week whilst doing library shows, and it worked great. And as they came two to a pack, my wife got a new cookie rack too. |

That's a great solution, and I appreciate finding solutions here instead of problems to be solved! Some of the bunny production boxes I have built for others would benefit from having one of these cookie grates built into the bottom of the box.
