Wouldn't you agree that there is nothing like a great magic lecture from a talented performer? If so, you are in for a treat! On Thursday August 22nd at 7:00 pm, the wonderfully talented Sam Sandler and his lovely daughter Tessa Sandler will be presenting their magic lecture at Marc DeSouza's home, a gorgeous home theater and magic museum (often referred to as the East Coast Magic Castle).

I know first hand that Sam Sandler has such an incredibly inspiring story of overcoming a number of overwhelming setbacks in life. While seeing him perform recently at Knoebels, he shared how he lost his hearing a few years ago and it totally crushed their lives. The bank foreclosed on their home and everything seemed so hopeless. Sam then shared how he learned to work with the deafness, how to circumnavigate the problems it created. He then made a comeback with a show centered on this incredible life story of overcoming the obstacles of deafness, hence the new show, "DEAFinitely Magic". Quite an inspiring story!

On Thursday, August 22nd, we proudly present a lecture by Sam Sandler. I know that most of you know Sam, but how many of you have actually seen him perform? I have on several occasions and he is a dynamic, high-energy performer who does some great magic. He has done over 10,000 live shows in virtually every kind of venue from schools to casinos to private homes and has learned a lot in that time. He is currently preparing to go out on a one year, 45 state National Tour, performing his all new DEAFinitely Magic Show for the school show market. Along the way, he will be presenting his new lecture to select magic organizations. Sam offered to do the lecture first at our place to “break it in”. He just did a short version of the lecture, along with a performance, at Tannen’s Magic Camp last week…Both were a huge hit. If you are a family entertainer, you can’t afford to miss this lecture.

The lecture will include a number of pieces right out of his show. This is material that can be performed in any type of show like non-body load dove productions, his color changing balloon, tips on the use of flash paper, a very funny mouth coil routine and the best Change Bag Routine I’ve ever seen. This one is going right into my own show and this is the only lecture he will be doing it in! He will also teach his signature Gypsy Thread using the special glow thread he makes (with Alain Choquette’s permission) and his special setup that is guaranteed not to tangle. As part of the discussion of the routines, he will detail the reasoning behind their construction, the order of his show to achieve maximum reaction, how to choose audience volunteers and audience management. In short, you will learn the details on how to create a successful show that will get you booked and re-booked.

In the second half, Sam will perform and teach some of his favorite close-up effects. These are routines that are great for strolling and restaurant magic. You will learn some of his favorites including a four ace routine that happens right in the participant’s own hand, his Sweet Prediction and Illusion of Fusion, Sam’s Bill Change that is super clean. During this portion of the lecture, Sam will discuss how to draw the audience into effects through stories, eye contact and interaction.
