Vijay - I don't think most magicians want to promote apps to others...
I can only speak for myself but if it looks like a toy, I don't even consider the app. Or I purchase it just for myself, I don't actually use it in public. Just my .02 |

Most apps discussed in this thread are only used as a gimmick or secret tool, the spectators are not aware that the phone is used in any way. With iUnlockYourMind, they unlock your phone then you unlock theirs. How Your iPhone can do this? There is no explanation, because you are using their phone same with HandzOFF, they think of a card and you show that you have predicted it days ago in your Facebook wall or twitter. The app and the phone are not part of the performance they can use their laptop, tablet or any device that is connected to internet to check the prediction. You are the only one who know that a app was involved to perform the effect. I think that any app that is used to accomplish a magical effect without involving the phone directly should be priced like any gimmick or magic DVD. |

I trust and appreciate the developers of these fine apps (like Greg). I don't trust or appreciate the developers at Apple to not somehow limit my use of them in the (near) future. My comfortable risk pricing would be $20-$30. High enough to keep it somewhat exclusive, low enough to not feel too badly stung if I'm not able to use the app "forever" for whatever reason.

I think there is generally a reluctance to pay very much for something that you can't hold -ie a download of some form.
Personally I think magic downloads, including apps, should be priced comparably to magic DVD IF it meets both of TWO criteria: 1)it won't be taken away or shortly made out of date. 2)it's a genuine trick, especially a 'hidden' trick, not just a cheap looking toy. ...in fact if it is priced too cheap chances are it'll only be a couple of weeks before (apologies for stereotyping)a 9-year old kid goes on youtube explaining to everyone how it's done.
