Does anyone know about ticketing software? I do fundraisers, and want to make it as easy as possible for my sponsors. I would like people to be able to buy and print tickets online, and then my staff can scan tickets at the door with a smart phone for entry. I would like it to show a message that a ticket has already been used.
I have tried online services such as Ticket Leap. In my experience, $1 per ticket is too much of a fee for my target market. I would like to pay an upfront fee to purchase, or possibly develop a ticketing software, and make it avaialbe to my sponsor's. My sponsor's sell about 30,000 tickets per year, so in the long-run it would be much cheaper to invest in the software than pay $1 per ticket. |

Are you paying the $1 fee, or is the ticket buyer? Eventbrite allows for the seller to absorb the fee as opposed to the ticket buyer. Not sure if that's what you need.

What about people that do not have credit cards or ATM cards and no access to the Internet? Is there a way to purchase a ticket?
Whether the $1 is taken from the client or the purchaser, isn't the client still paying? Sounds a play on words and not reality. That is what con men do, structure the wording to make it sound like a good deal. |

Ticket Leap allows you to absorb the fee or charge it to the buyer. I am not willing to absorb the fee and don't want to pass it on. I would rather buy or develop my own software where all I have to deal with are credit card fee's. Again, 30,0000 tickets a year times $1 will probably buy a decent software package and be more cost effective over the long run. Bill, there is a way for people to buy with cash through the sponsor, but I am trying to reduce their work load substantially.

As mentioned, Eventbrite ( http://www.eventbrite.com/r/startfree ) allows you to pass the fee onto the buyer, or pay it yourself.
I've used their software for many of my shows, and I can highly recommend them. Aside from their online services, they also have a free iPad app, for selling tickets at the door. You can even get a credit card reader, so you can accept credit cards at your event. Customer service is great, too. If you have any questions, give them a shout at 1-888-810-2063 Take care, Sam |

To answer the OP question, they may very well be a customized program to process ticket holders, but usually these companys sell with their industry. I use to work for banks, and when one bank would design a program to process all their banking bookkeeping, they would offer the program for sale to other banking institutions.
I would imagine that a limited program like this would be similar to my experience. There is only a handful of these companies, to sell tickets on line for theaters and sporting events. You may think your suggested sales is a lot, but these companies sell in the millions of dollars. So I would think the program is very expensive. My suggestion is for you to contact President of one of these companies and propose your question to them. If they do sell there program they will direct you to their person who handles these sales or perhaps advise you for your needs. I don't believe this would be easy, but nothing worth it usually is. |

SoCalMagic, here is a software package that may be just what you're looking for. Right now, it seems to be going for $999.00. Looks like it can handle tickets from small to large events, has bar coding, etc...

Thanks Mark! I'm going to take a closer look at it, and possibly do the free trial to see if it works for me.
