Is it possible to print on Flash Paper using an ink jet printer?
I am working on an idea where an open book suddenly bursts into flame. The printed flash paper would be the top pages printed to look like the book. The book underneath the pages will have already been burnt away in the middle. When set off, it would leave the impression that it suddenly combusted. Thanks in advance for any help! Gary |

I’m not sure how I would feel about a large piece of flash paper on a book page. The effect sounds good but you should keep in mind the fact that flash paper (unlike flash cotton) burns hot and relatively long.
I have printed on flash paper to make flash bills, but I taped sheets of 8” x 10” flash paper to light card stock to avoid jamming my printer. I would not want the acid on my print heads. Commercially, first it is printed and then soaked in the acids.
Of course, I would not want to try iron on transfers either! (Please don't!) All of us would really like to know how the printing worked, if you try it. A small amount may not hurt the printer at all. Let's use your printer! (Brave aren't we?) Someone had to eat the first raw oyster. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I have scanned and printed bills on my ink jet printer. They look really good the first day. They tend to blur, and the color changes after a few days. Also the bill I made shrunk about a quarter of an inch after 2 days. I have not tried lighting the bill fresh off the printer because its a little damp.
I scotch tape a piece of FP onto my reg printer paper so it will feed thru well. |

In a similar way you can print on blank Bicycle cards!

The book idea can work, but the issue with flash paper starting a fire on paper is mostly true, but I have found that many pages (so the edges are thick) stand up pretty well. In any event to get around this issue, laminate the page directly below the FP and you'll be fine. Use the thickness of the book to hide the ignition source.
