I am always looking for ways to become a better magician. So in addition to studying comedy, I am considering taking an improv class. This class is offerred by "Dad's Garage" in Atlanta: http://www.dadsgarage.com/en/classes/Level-1-Sundays-7p.aspx . What do you guys think? You think an improv class would be good for a magician? I think so because it teaches you interpersonal dynamics and had to interact with large groups of people.

It is a good way to get your feet wet.
There is a local music venue near here that has open mic once a month, and they save me a big slot so I can go there and try out new routines. I like it because it is my way of keeping my hand in comedy which is what I love to do the most.

One of the most important things any performer "in one" can do.

The most important thing I learned standing up and telling jokes with a spot light in my face was to get behind, and control the rush of adrenalin.

An improv class will absolutely be beneficial for improving your performing skills and presence. Will get you thinking on your feet, indeed. You'll probably also find it will get you thinking later about responses that would have been great if only you'd thought of them on the spot. Highly recommended. Have fun!

Holy Gathering! I never knew this existed, and there must be over a hundred different opportunities within 25 miles of me. Have not found improv yet, but it could be in there- I have some homework to do. Thank you!

Well, I have "joined up" and will see where it leads. Thru the summer I am too busy on the farm for such things, but when it starts getting dark at 5PM, having something interesting to go to will be a treat. Problem for me is, I am interested in about 40 of these things! How long do you suppose it will take the "french language" group to realize I know little french, especially if they don't credit me for my Inspector Clouseau imitation?

Dress up, let them know that you are a magician, bring lots of business cards, a couple tricks, and remember most of the members will be female business owners, so be sure to smells good.
