I use it and I'm not a big ACAAN fan. The payoff is big and the work to get their is minimal and NO table needed which works great for Open MIC hosting,
All of this in the ad is TRUE: No rough and smooth No sticky cards No short cards No table needed No sleights No memorized deck or mnemonic work No formulas or sequences to remember No mental calculations to learn. |

The DVD came out not long ago: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3476 The DVD is excellent. Boris is very thorough and covers all you need to know. I prefer the "birthday" angle because a problem with this plot is when they choose high numbers and you're on stage counting 49 cards. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Boris's routine, for me, solved so many problems. |

My main concern is whether you need to wear a coat or jacket to perform this as I am usually not wearing one.

You definitely need a jacket to perform this as per Boris in the demo .

I was very impressed with this, really want to get it to the point of performance

It's a VERY well thought out routine. Very good for stand up. But you need a coat.

I prefer his effect "Miracle" which is another ACAAN routine. It's in his book Transparency. I find it less cumbersome, though not quite as "pure." If you watch the demo on Youtube, though, be aware that he had a lucky moment and likely there is a bit more handling.

Digging up the past here, but I just saw Boris perform this live in his lecture in Jacksonville, FL. I can’t even begin to recount how unbelievably fooled I was. It was incredible. I don’t get so thoroughly destroyed too often and that did it for me. So much so that I had to walk out before he explained it. I wasn’t ready to lose that feeling of wonder just yet.
I have seen some complaints on this, about the deck not being in full view the entire time, I get that. But in his performance, the person making sure he didn’t “mess with the deck” even stuck her hand in half way through the check. Then allowing her to be the one to count out the cards. It was so perfect and pure looking from my point of view. I know magicians can overthink it, but I don’t think a lay-person will. This is the ACAAN to beat, imo.

How many young magicians wear jackets now? Can't see Dynamo or david blaine slipping on a nice tweed dinner jacket!!!! Most of us wear jeans and t-shirt 99% of the time, maybe popping a jacket on for the odd special event. So the fact you need a jacket to perform puts me off from the start. Also, not keen on not having the card pack on the table in full view all the time. Just my opinion on an old method, but from reading the forum, it appears it's popular among the magic fraternity. So I'll shut up then!

A lot of magicians, young and old wear jackets. No one I know wears tweed, though. Most wear stylish jackets or suits. I wear a jacket with jeans sometimes. You can still look nice and be "cool" at the same time.
if you are a young amateur magician who performs for friends and family only, then this trick isn't for you. But just because it's not for you doesn't mean it's a bad trick. It's just not for you.

Oh boy! Love this. I bought the DVD version, which suits my learning style and Boris explains everything really well. There are two very useful pdf files on the DVD too, which are timesavers.
Yes a jacket is a must but this is no problem for me. Very very strong magic! A winner. Think it's best for a parlour or stage presentation. You could do it close up though, with some care. |
