I'm trying to collect all credit info on Card Warp and all it's published variations for a manuscript I'm writing. I'll start with what I know, and if you can fill in any missing spots it would be appreciated.

Jeff Busby (date:?)card reverses through hand

Roy Walton (date:?)routine for CardWarp using two cards.

Howard Schartzman (date:?) GreenWarp, using a card and a bill.

Mike Close (date:?) Workers #1 Dr. Strangetrick using card and bill.

I'm missing alot of info and I'm sure there are other variations in print worthy of crediting.

Help if you can.

Thanks
Jeff Pierce

Actually, Bob McCallister wwas the creator of Greenwarp, the first routine that substituted a bill for one of the cards. Schwartzman's routine was a variation, called "Star Warp." The McCallister routine was published in Kaufman's "Richard's Almanac" September, 1983. "Star Warp" was published in Lorayne's Apocalypse, Vol 3 #7, July of 1980. (Although Greenwarp had been around longer.) Both may have also been published elsewhere.

Busby's orignal creation was "Into the Fourth Dimension." One of the phases was adapted and finessed by Walton, and he renamed it Card warp.

Workers One was published in 1990. I'm not sure on the dates for Busby and Walton, but I'll check if no one else knows.

I'm sure many people reading this will be surprised, because they assumed Card Warp and Star Warp were Michael Ammar's! Smile

Also be sure to check out Cervon's versions of the effect. Don't have the info handy right now but if anyone has the book Ultra Cervon, they will find it. If I am correct there are two versions in there.

Take care,

I have no idea who invented it, but the original method involved pushing the card through your hand, rather than another card or bill.

Adam-

That was Busby's method. Walton added the second card, and McCallister was the first to use one card and a dollar bill. Everything else that has come since are variations of those three.

Dorian-
You're right. Cervon has two versions in Ultra Cervon (L&L Publishing, 1990), "Warped" and "Warp II." Both use one card and a bill. The second uses a slightly different method, where the work on the card is put in 1/3 of the way from one end instead of right in the middle. This makes for some intersting phases and shows not possible with other methods.

BTW, the original Busby method that started it all was published in 1973.

And of course, as far as I know Davenports in the UK still sell and hold the marketing rights for Card Warp. Oops!

I don't think they wholesale either so any marketed versions elsewhere could be pirate copies. Roy was asked permission by Ammar to include it on one of the EMCM videotapes.

You could always e-mail Roy Walton for info. on Card Warp.

Cervon's version was also described on an audio tape.

Eugene Burger's version ois worth mentioning because of his Spanish Inquisition patter and use of jumbo cards.

Thanks to everyone of the info on CardWarp. I have a version I am interested in publishing but wanted to get all the lowdown before I did. It seems that by Scotts description of the Cevron version, I need to look into that one before I go any farther.

BTW. does anyone know who was the first to tear the cards in half for the final display? I don't think it was in Walton's routine.
