Does anybody have some real world experience with this? It looks really cool...could it be used with a Haunted Key?

I used one for a thought transferance effect and my spec picked it straight away. Haven't really revisited it, but probably should. The water bending is a sweet effect though.

When you say my spec picked it do you mean tumbled to the method? I was thinking after a doing Haunted Key I could immediately hand the Key to someone and they get a small shock...could it work like that?

Boy, for me, I would tread softly with a tool like this. This is a physiological reaction and shouldn't be handled lightly. Am I wrong? If a performer came up to me and shocked me without preparing me, I'd be tempted to square off and TKO the dude. I could see this working really, really well with the right spectator preparation and audience management. But off the cuff? No way. Not in this day and age.

I live in very dry (most of the time) New Mexico. Static charges often build up, so shocking someone by touching them is not a big deal here. The spectator might not even think it was some sort of magic thing.

To clarify the spectator figured out I had a machine that gave shocks. He was a very analytical kind of guy, quite skeptical too.
I think the application after a pk style effect would be a good application for this device. I was thinking pk silverware and as you hand the bent item to the spec they recieve a shock. You feign not to notice, thereby strengthening the genuiness of the event. Oh yeah, and another tip, don't use these while wearing flip flops (jandals, thongs, etc). I have seen the results and they are...hysterical!

Agreed. But I do suspect a similar device, after all most of the devices like this are modified stun guns essntially. And it does give some idea as to the power of these devices with the correct presentation.

Yes...the power of this in the right hands with the right presentation could absolutely convince people they saw or had a genuine psychic experience...

I've experimented with a 'cheap' TENS unit for making a spec fell unconfortable. The unit itself is small enough to go in my inside coat pocket (its 100 mm x 80 mm x 15 mm). You do need to lubricate your hands (strong salt water is fine ...or wipe the sweat off you brow?) and hold their hands. The unit can give them a jolt on the higher settings, but on the lower settings they aren't sure if they've felt something or not. My hope is that the spec experiences an uneasy feeling. The better units have programmed setting and even timers for a delay. Give it a try.

I could see this working in a seance type atmosphere, or one where everyone involved was made well-aware that they were to be part of an experiment, and to be prepared for the forces that may or may not follow. With that type of set up...yeah...I would think this could make some hairs stand...literally.

Wizard of Oz those will be my exact show circumstances!! I've been thinking about your earlier post a lot and I think I can get away with it...I've been hosting shows at this venue for over 20 years...1/2 the audience on any given night will know me...I'll pick someone I know and someone who will give me a good reaction...this will happen outside before they are seated by candle light...I think I can get away with it. What do you think...

I have one, to be honest, not the most practical thing in the world to use, and requires work to set it up properly. It has worked it's way to the back of the junk cupboard.

Cunningham, I think you should PM Martyn35 and figure out the practicalities of the prop and how it fits into your situation. My comments were based exclusively on effect and the possible consequences of using such a powerful device without the proper audience management. Since I don't own the unit, I can't comment on its workings (I know that's not what you were asking, but I'm just reacting to Martyn35's latest post).
From my standpoint, it sounds like you could be heading in the right direction. I would definitely build my presentation around introducing my audience to a sensation "they may be exposed to," and having them mentally prepare for that sensation. I actually think this type of introduction and disclaimer could add to the performance. (But I'm guessing that none of the audience members should have a pacemaker. Just sayin'.)
