You have an act that translates well from the public to the
private, because you don't alienate your participants for the most part(he-he) and you also clean up nicely, which unfortunately many buskers do not. Many buskers do not like to perform private gigs because they feel that they may make more money with fat hats on a saturday or sunday in public in high traffic areas. This means that many buskers will miss out on higher paying private gigs, because they can't transition from the street character to a more "acceptable" one in a private social gathering or restaurant. Do you have a preference as to which suits you better? I think I know the answer, but I'm still curious. Dev/ |

Very kind words sir! Thank you.
I live a strange life. I love doing gigs, but after years of soliciting work in a variety of markets; I got tired of the daily grind of phone calls, meetings and follow-up. At one point I spent more time on the phone than I did performing. It started feeling like a real job. I was booking high dollar gigs in the corporate market, but didn't like all the telemarketing. I've lived in LA for the last 7 years and I could count the paid gigs I've done here on one hand. That said, I probably perform more that most of the magicians here in Los Angeles. I work the Magic Castle quarterly, and other than that, I can be found working 7 nights a week at the Universal CityWalk in Hollywood. Life is good! Most magicians (including myself) are probably better suited for private gigs, but I like to eat, smoke and work. So, I do what I've always done. . . got out and get paid! That's what I'm talking about! |
