Strange question... I figured this was the best forum category to put it into:
I am performing on stage, and I wanted to be able to make a jacket fall to the ground from a coat hanger (on a stand) at any given time. (that I choose) Does anyone have any idea how this can work? Or can anyone direct me to a book or DVD that I can buy to learn how to do this? Any ideas will help! Thanks, Yankay |

Years ago I made a coat rack where one of the pegs would pivot down and drop the coat. It had a servo mounted to the peg. It was built of wood that was a hollow square tube about 3 inches square and the pegs were wood dowels. the servo was mounted sideways and on an angle upward. When the control was used (basically turning the servo to make a left turn since it was from a remote control car)the peg dropped down and the coat fell.
There is a starting point. I hope that helps a bit. Regards, Jef

Another idea and probably slightly safer as you never know when electronic devices fail and they will and do - I know only too well Rig up one of those music box motors that have a small ( a bit smaller than a playing card ) turn table attached to it which will rotate and your jacket will fall off through a slot in it when it gets to a certain point. I am sure you will get what I am trying to say. Stuart.

Jef, Stuart, thank you very much!!
Jef's idea is a little bit challenging for me, so I will try the Music box first. Either way, I finally see a light in the end of the tunnel! Thank you for your help! I'll let you know how it goes. Yankay |
