Many years ago, I purchased an Axtell face board http://www.axtell.com (it is called the "Magic Drawing Board")-where the eyes go back and forth and a smile/tongue drops down after a face is drawn on a dry erase glass board- but I have never found the right opportunity to use it yet.
This weekend, I went to a big magic show at the beautiful State Theatre in Kalamazoo to watch MagicBob and Alan Kazam, and Alan did a really neato kids pre-recorded routine using the Magic Drawing Board. Got a great response from the hundreds of children present watching Alan on the same massive stage Blackstone, Sr. performed from. Just wondering... any pre-recorded Gospel routines for kids using the "face board" or printed Gospel routines out there using this clever prop? |

Axtell I believe sells pre-recorded and written scripts for Gospel presentations for puppets and the Axtell Drawing Board.

Thanks for the link- excellent. As a total aside, several IBMers/FCMers including MagicBob and SuZie, Alan Kazam, Chuck Bennett, Peter Stobie and yours truly are performing 11-2-2013 at the Hocus Pocus Party at 5:30pm (doors open- magic begins at 6:30pm) at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 5830 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, Michigan 49509. For $20 you get over 22 close up performers, a full meal, and a magic stage show with MagicBob as one of the performers. Not too shabby! See http://www.Ring211.org for details.

Roger,
I found myself in the same situation a few years ago, so I recorded my own using my computer and some editing software (I came from a radio broadcasting background and having a sound effect library helped, but anyone can do it.) My first attempt was a routine on Joshua and the battle of Jericho. I can't remember which issue, but it was included in one of the issues of the "Christian Conjurer" a few years back. Later recorded a Christmas routine I called "Santa or Savior," using a drawing of Santa. The benefits of doing it yourself are you can customize the routines to your own timing (I found the Axtell versions to be a bit too drawn out) and obviously have it say what you want. Free software and music/sound effects are available online; plug in a mike and you can furnish the voices yourself or recruit some friends. |

Thanks- great advice. I do Gospel magic now every Sunday as a small part of my wife's 2nd service Sunday School class at Lighthouse Community Church in Kalamazoo (16 kids, 1st and 2nd graders), just is a real joy. Samson is the story for next week- so lots of potential material available- probably will do a rope "pull through" the body trick of some sort...
