Hi'yall
I was wondering where I could buy this effect, or an effect similar to this one. Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAa4k_1XXo0 The only other effect that I perform using envelopes is Bank Night, and so I would like to introduce another powerful envelope illusion. Do you guys know any other really good envelope tricks? If so, please tell me! The video that I have attached is the best one that I could find. Many Thanks, Mike |

I'm surprised that you can't find it in one of your many books on mentalism that you legitimately own... I'd say check again.

This kid claims to have all the required reading to be able to reverse engineer any effect he likes. No need to suggest more material for him, he has it all.
I have no problem with how people learn. Some start with Corinda, some start with Cassidy, some start with Jermay. No problem there. My problem with this kid is that if he actually had the books he claims he'd be better suited to answer his own question than many other mentalists. |

Perhaps reading up on the methods of some interesting effects like these would start to clarify things for him, as he seems unconvinced that the basic methods in Corinda are still fuelling some of the more mindblowing demonstrations out there... |

That was the thread where he showed his true colors in my mind. Follow up PMs reinforce my opinion of him. Do what you will with your information though, if you choose to share with him so be it. I still stand by my comment that it's surprising he would ask such a question with such a wealth of knowledge at his disposal.

Since the premise of these threads is "magicians helping magicians," that agenda might script our best response to any plausible inquiry, including Mike's. He is, after all, not the first among us to be impressed by an effect by Brown, Osterlind, Maven or whoever and to want to access methods for doing something like what impressed him.
Since none of us has total recall, including Mike, we might simply refer him to the relevant chapters he may have in his library. We might begin where he is, rather than where we'd like him to be; someone once began with each of that way. And, let's drop the name calling, unless we intend to intimidate newbies from asking questions. George |

I will go out of my way to help anyone who is respectful of the art and demonstrates a sincere desire to learn because I want to see good mentalism out there, and if I can contribute to that in any way I'll jump to it. I do think that a lot of the time we're too quick to share information here at the Café though and feel that can be detrimental to our art. In the spirit of "magicians helping magicians" though, I'll say this: Familiarize yourself with the various Bank Night methods in your massive library OP. Apply your own thinking and techniques. You apparently have all the information you need to develop a similar routine. |
