A little over a year ago I purchased a set of Collector Workshop Midas Cups from Hocus Pocus from their collectible magic section. I did so because the photo in the ad was of the older style Midas Cups, or so I thought, with the polished brass base and the silver cup. When I received them I was surprised that the cups were actually the newer version, which in my opinion are rather plain, and not what I had wanted. I questioned Hocus Pocus about this and was told " no, the cups you received were the same ones as in the photo". Unfortunately when you buy from the collectible section the picture of the item is removed when it's sold. I had no proof the the cups were different from the photo on the site. Since I could use the cups as "practice" cups I didn't pursue the matter further.
Last week I purchased an illusion from the collectibles area of Hocus Pocus' site. This time, for my own interest, I saved the photo BEFORE I made the purchased. I was again rather surprised when the item arrived and was not the same one pictured on their site. The condition was worse than pictured. The colours did not match what it received. Decorative trim was missing from the version I got. It was painfully obvious that it wasn't the same one in the ad. Please understand that I got the illusion at a fair price. It does require some TLC, which I would have expected. The service and delivery were excellent. I just want to advise anyone purchasing from this area of Hocus Pocus, to be aware that you might not receive your item as pictured. I find it somewhat misleading NOT to get the item as pictured. Thanks, John |
