Anyone that get this, a review would be very helpful ( how it looks close-up, the weight, etc. ). I like the photo and video, but you have to have these things in front of you to know if it's "sellable". http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S16218 I'd probably cut the stem off. You don't see melons at the supermarket with them. |

My first thought is that you lose the ability to lift and drop it to your table with an audible "thud", like you would be able to do with a real melon. That's always a reaction-getting moment (the thud) in routines like Gazzo's, for example.
But I'd agree, the stem has to go…at least here in the States. Maybe in Japan they are sold on the stem like that?

Danny Diamond, good point about Gazzo's reveal of the melon for busking. Maybe bumping the table would help sell it. Or just lifting the hat to reveal it ( as we do with the other loads from under the cups ). On the upside, the loading would be easier and of course not transporting an actual heavy melon.

If you were to be loading this under a hat a la Gazzo, then I don't think it would be any easier than loading a real melon of the same size, unless you could find a way to load it in it's compressed state and have it expand before the reveal. Offhand, I can't think of a good way to do that. I guess it would depend on just how small it is when fully compressed.

If I'm not wrong, there was also a production bananna (http://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=52587) and one other fruit wasnt there? Can someone tell me the uses of a expandable fruit that looks real? (Apart from a final load)

I am intrigued too, but don't like stem. Yet I worry about the integrity of item if stem is removed.
