Jerskin, as this is the definitive source for the subject matter, it's more than your weekend that has gone. FUNDAMENTALS will alter more than just the next 2 days, it will transform your life.

Mine is probably waiting at the office. I am greatly looking forward. First a Bernstein compilation (and SA), now a release from Bob. Its been a good year for mentalism.

David Thiel posted a review today in the Mentally Speaking section.
For those interested, there is a featured interview with me in the new issue of Magic Magazine (December 2013). It also includes an effect from the book. Other details are at http://marketplaceofthemind.com |

Finished the 1st reading. Anyone care to recommend a good stagecraft book or resource?
Also Bob, I don't recall what you said the difference between vol one and the Viking Magic/Collectors Workshop edition was? Thanks again, it was a remarkable MindVention. |

RCP:
The Viking edition is THE ART OF MENTALISM. This one is THE ARTFUL MENTALISM OF BOB CASSIDY, VOLUME 2. Completely different series. In fact, the third edition of THE ART OF MENTALISM is one of the ten e-books included in TAMOBC2. As for stagecraft, I know many will suggest Ken Weber's MAXIMUM ENTERTAINMENT. There's some invaluable stuff in there, but I totally disagree with his assessment of the difference in magic and mentalism. I actually like a little book called Audience Management by Gay Ljungberg. It may be skewed towards magicians, but it's very useful for all. - Jheff
Marketplace of the Mind PARIMENTAL, a 200 page exploration of a classic Martin Gardner principle, is now available!!

Thanks Jheff. Nice to finally meet you. I was asking about the difference between THE ART OF MENTALISM and THE ARTFUL MENTALISM OF BOB CASSIDY, VOLUME 1. I have answered my on question as I was able to find both texts in my library. I need a better way to organize.........

Are there any differences in the original "The Art of Mentalism" and the Collector's Workshop edition?
|
mastermindreader 1949 - 2017 Seattle, WA 12586 Posts |
No. The original Art of Mentalism (1982) IS the Collectors Workshop edition. It is the second book I wrote - the first was Pseudomentally Yours in 1978.
Keep in mind, though, that Collectors Workshop produced two editions of the book. The second had larger pages containing marginal comments taken from Bascom Jones's Magick. The main text, however, was the same as the original. Neither, however, is the book that is the subject of this thread, which was written over thirty years after The Art of Mentalism. |
