Criswell was a self-proclaimed prognosticator of future events. He was a true original. He never, as far as I know, gave private readings or personal advice to individuals. Whether or not he believed in his "abilities" is hard to say.
But the bottom line was that he was very entertaining, never caused any harm, and was a very popular talk show guest- primarily because he frequently made completely outrageous and hysterically funny predictions. He once predicted that the world would end in 1999, but that he didn't care because he himself would be dead by then. (He died in 1982, so he got that one half right.) So there is no joke to pick up on. Criswell was just The Amazing Criswell. You can read all you need to know about him at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Criswell Good thoughts, Bob |

My great uncles predictions were quite amazing when he wasn't simply playing to the paying crowds ....
Some sources claim Criswell's most famous prediction was on The Jack Paar Program (1962–65) in March 1963, when he predicted John F. Kennedy would not run for reelection in 1964 because something was going to happen to him in November 1963. There are other threads I've started somewhere here on the Café.
