I know some of you guys are tech folks and I need a little help. For some reason, all of a sudden I can't open any links I receive in email. I use outlook. When I click on what should take me to a specific place, I get a window saying "Windows can't find ... and it list the url. I can type the url directly into my browser and it works. I tried forwarding the email to another computer and account and it worked fine. Any ideas.

I'm not a tech guy, but I wonder what version of Windows you're using and if you're automatically receiving Windows updates? Or perhaps some corruption in Windows occurred, or a driver issue? That might be someplace to start. Good luck. I'm curious myself to see what others say.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I'm not sure what I did but it seems the problem has been resolved. I got into default programming and set one of the search features to custom. Seems that fixed the problem. If not, I'll be back with an update.

Glad it corrected. I cringe when stuff doesn't work because I have zero idea how to fix it.

I know a little but not enough to really mess with anything. I'm always afraid I'll change something and really screw it up.

Did you address any of the issues in my original post?

Bob, I'm sorry, didn't realize you were looking for a specific response to your suggestions. I use Windows Vista which is a pain in the first place. I do get automatic updates and my drivers are all current. Since this only occurs when trying to connect to a link in the body of a message, I don't believe it's a corruption issue.
I do believe it's a setting. I've gone back in and changed the default programming settings and it appears that this has corrected the problem. It's a matter of finding the right combination of settings.

When I locked out the history feature and controled my cookiews as well as 3 party pop-up, I got the same thing.
Also my windows for so odd reason will not update, hence I get proplems with images and links in Outlook. It says I do not have a leagl copy, and I do. Windows can be a pain.

Dave, no need for apologies, I was more curious. Glad you found the problem.
Dennis, if you haven't seen Windows 8 yet, you're in for a real treat. I hate it.
