Hi again guys, was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me out with some credit info?
I'm afraid I'll have to be slightly cryptic, and I'm not being lazy by simply asking Café members. I'm researching a ton of material, and just want to be sure I don't miss something. Also people tend to have different opinions on crediting, so would like to hear them. So, I'm researching accurate information on who should be recognised for creating/publishing work on using an adhesive stranger card in context of a prediction style card effect? I have traced something by milbourne Christopher in 1947, and Lewis ganson in 1964 which are slightly similar to what I'm looking for, but used in an entirely different way for a different plot altogether, but I'm assuming that there must be more work published that's closer to my ideas. Apologies that I currently can't explain more clearly, but for an example routine (without exposure),... A performer asks a spectator to remove a face down card, and place it somewhere in a face up deck. A prediction is made, and when the deck is ribbon spread, the face up card matches the predicted card. That's not actually the effect I need info for, but I think the same crediting would apply. Thanks on advance for your time, it's be a great help. Kneill. |

If I understand you correctly- this is also a principle used to have a card peeked from a pack or a word forced from a book. Back to the Jinx?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Hang on. What happened to the replies for last night where 'bulla' accused me of exposure?
I pointed out that I hadn't even mentioned the thing I wanted info on, so couldn't have exposed it. ??? |

It most likely got deleted and as you can see staff edited your post to make it better.

Wow. I did not know the staff could do that.
It seems that the only line in my original post that's been edited/censored, was the second mention of gaff in question. It's still mentioned in the first paragraph, so I assume the problem was because it was the secret that made the effect described possible? I tried to keep it so only those familiar with it would understand. By the way, the prediction effect that I used in my original post was purely imaginary and only used as an example. If something similar does exist, then of course I wouldn't want to disclose any method, and apologise if anyone that saw it that way. Looking back at my new (and old) post tonight, and the comments kindly offered, I'm not sure is clear enough. So I'll try again, and hope its allowed. Please check my original opst, and note the 'item' mentioned. Here's a hopefully clearer request! Who was the first performer to change the face of a card by that technique? I look forward to hearing your thoughts, and thanks to the members who already posted. (can I request that if the Café staff are still unhappy with the above wording, it be deleted entirely? Thanks). |
