Hi,
I was wondering if you have a set of three tricks that you do that don't have a connection to each other, but work for you anyway. My biggest set of 3 is: Sponge Bunnies ACR to Kennedy Box Chop Cup These are in no way connected, but are my three biggest workers. I do these three almost exclusively when working large parties, country clubs, and casino events. I have other sets of 3, but these 3 are my bread and butter. I do love an artistic, well pieced together set of three tricks, but these are the GTFM and leave their heads spinning routines for me. So do you have a set of 3 that aren't necessarily connected, but it's your best set? I'm curious to hear routines others use. |

I know my title said three sets, but I meant one set.

I don't have any set of 3,
I have 4 openers, I decide how to open depending on several factors, every opener have several follow up effects, again it depends on some factors. example: I can open with extreme burn and continue with bill under watch, but if anybody has a watch I might do 2 Card Monte. also I have 4-5 effects that I do no more than 1-2 times per night, I do them when the right situation arrives. for example (Borrowed Ring to Kinder Egg). |

I typically have the asme approach. I have 3 sets of 3, but I typically do an opener( the bunnies), gauge the crowd and go from there.

One of my sets I use at all my gigs that really don't go together is
Rubberband Routine Remarkable Rope Nut Knot All my routines are set up like this. Mini intro (arrive at group) First Trick Introduction (create friendly conversation and get everyone's name) Second Trick Continue with friendly conversation (ask questions) Third Trick Thank you to the audience. Especially at a two hour gig with a lot of people it stretches time and the tricks don't necessarily have to fit together. This works for me at least. |

I do get strong reactions with sponge balls too though as my retention vanish is very good and convincing so when I vanish a sponge ball from my hand to make it "magically" appear in the other person's hand, it can be a strong effect as well. But having a very good and convincing retention vanish is key with sponge balls.

If you you watch a stand up comedian,he can talk on one subject get some laughs along the way and when he reaches the climax of the subject he suddenly will go onto a totally differrent subject and do it again (usually with an appropiate pause between). Magic can be the same.

1.Sponge Balls
2.Coins 3.Cards 4.Ropes 5.Rings 6.Currency Mix n match depending on situation. As I do walk around gigs, sometimes people from the previous groups join the group that I move to. Hence I see who is around n accordingly change my routines. |

I agree with everyone here. I know there has been a trend to put three routines together that flow into one another, but I have always received the most mileage out of my three workers even though they're not connected in any way.
