Another hobby of mine is origami. For this reason, I'm experimenting with using a modified handling using an origami ring box folded out of paper. There are hundreds of folding patterns for boxes, a lot of which you can find on YouTube. The main benefit of using paper is that you don't need any specialist tools to make the box. You can also experiment with the size of the final box by making the paper square you use bigger or smaller.
The main disadvantage is that a light paper box doesn't operate in the same way as a wooden one. However, I've found you can add thin cardboard inserts (or even metal ones) into the folds to add weight. I also add another origami box (without a lid) to the inside of the hinged ring box (this makes repairing the gaff easy). Perhaps the best thing about using an inexpensive paper box is you can apparently give the box away as a gift with the card inside it. Marty |

You can, with a switch. Even Wonder's own construction allows for the card and any gimmicking to be removed from the box without any tools.

Jim, you're spot on. I was alluding to a s****h, which is only made possible if you use an inexpensive box, such as one folded out of paper. Unless you want to give away an expensive, handcrafted wooden box every time you perform this!
I want to do this to leave my participant with a personal memento of the magic. Of course, giving the box away isn't necessary, but you might as well do it if you're using one made out of paper. Also, keeping the box will make it more likely that your participant will tell other people about the trick. Marty |

Craig Petty has a nice handeling of the box if you can find it.
