Has anyone else read this work?
I picked this up the other day and studied it cover to cover. I think its really groundbreaking stuff and I would love to pick up on a few presentational ideas in private on a few other the routines with other readers. (PM Me) Btw, What you people say is an equivalent book in terms of innovation that's been released from the "psychological approach" mentalism camp over the last few months? |

Hey there,
some weeks ago I received this work from Richard and have been wanting to write a review since; didn't get around to it until now. This book is a book about caring rather than performing. It's aimed at the reader more than at the 'cold reader'/mentalist that works in terms of show and being a Sherlock Holmes 2.0. - in my mind, a reader obviously is very good at reading and knowing people, but that's not what it's all about. It's about connecting with the sitter and genuinely offering advice and helping them out. Knowing people might be part of the "method", but it's not the effect. A cold reader as entertainer, on the other hand, might rather make "knowing people" the effect and use whatever method. "Intimate Secrets" is definetely aimed at the former: readers as coaches, guides or advisors. Therefore you will not find lots in terms of effects in here (look into Richard's "Neal Scryer" books if that's what you're after - especially Neal Scryer & Friends). What you will find are frameworks for giving readings, solid advice on how to connect with people and a lot of different techniques for what some people might call "energy work". The book weighs in at around 65 pages. Being rather thin here actually reflects Alexander Nelson's professional approach to this publication and his work: simple stuff that works. I believe the book is called "Intimate Secrets" because that's what you get (and no, not *that* way) - some of the techniques that stand at the core of Alexander's work. If you're thinking about getting into the business of being a reader as a consultant, this book is for you. Leave your ego behind and start caring for people, giving them solid advice. As Alexander puts it in the book: "Too many would-be psychics focus on themselves, and want everyone to know how great they are. It's not a power trip. Leave your ego behind. All the emphasis should be on your clients and how you can help them." This quote is taken from the section "What you must accept and do to be a great reader" - all through this section I found myself nodding along in agreement. "Alexander Nelson's Intimate Secrets" takes a curious place between a book for a reader and an entertainer - the material is simple and effective and anyone wanting to become a better reader will learn a lot from this book for sure. Hopefully that helps. JMCarter: You might be wanting to check out the "Neal Scryer" books depending on what exactly you're looking for. "Band of Readers" could be a good starting point. All the best, Timon

I found this book and its contents to be a great investment and another worthy addition to my personal library and working repertoire; I love what I read, have learned and applied there. I'm not in the business of reviewing or bashing much of anything these days, but Alexander Nelson's "Intimate Secrets" is certainly well deserving of all the praise it's due and I'm surprised that it hasn't found a wider audience yet.
This was much better than his first book, and I really enjoyed that one too! J.
