Have you been watching the news or weather reports in the last few days? I'm not convinced Blackpool is the place to be right now! According to the BBC trains are not running and tons of flights have been canceled. Again, hard to attend the Blackpool convention if you can't get there. 'Nuff said. ---

Leslie LIVES in Blackpool! He would know if anyone does. Blackpool IS always the best place to be! And I am not just talking about the convention! It has always been my favourite place in the whole wide world. And I have been just about everywhere!

According to the Brits, the weather will not be that bad:

Yes it was bad a few days ago (even in Blackpool!) with heavy rain and high winds, and the south of the country is currently suffering from excessive flooding - but in the UK, weatherwise, nothing lasts for very long and I repeat my earlier remarks - BLACKPOOL IS OPEN!
Don't be put off by scaremongering! Leslie

I can confirm that (in the north of England at least) the weather isn't as bad as the news says, it's an easy story I guess!
If you're coming to Blackpool for the first time this year (or if you just fancy some tips you might not have thought about) this week's Deception Podcast is a Blackpool special! Find it on iTunes, Stitcher or direct at here This will be my 12th year and every year I have an absolute blast! Jonti |

Steve it's all your fault we have been having storms in the UK. It is the extremely cold weather that the US is experiencing that is hitting the jet stream which is normally relatively mild. It is the mixture of mild/warm air with the exceptionally cold air being carried on the jet stream that is causing the storms, so if you Americans fix your weather, ours will be fine. Thank you
Have a safe trip and I look forward to meeting you |

I appreciate the updates everyone.
Does anyone know whether or not the train is running from Manchester Airport to Blackpool?

Steve, there is one train every hour from Manchester Airport that goes direct to Blackpool. Assuming you are staying near the Winter Gardens, you will want Blackpool North train station and then take a taxi. It should be only a few pounds.
Don't worry about images of places being boarded up in Blackpool. It is a seaside resort and half the places close anyway for the winter so they pay reduced proper tax. http://www.thetrainline.com will give you prices and times. |

I Have just checked and ALL train services out of Manchester Airport are currently running. We had ONE DAY of extreme wind and rain (Wednesday) when road and rail services were disrupted. This is what you saw on television.
It's been bad tonight (but not as bad as Wednesday). The forecast is for more rain at the weekend (this weekend - 15th. and 16th.) - lessening wind, and weather improving from Monday. There has been serious flooding in the south of England which will take a long time to clear. North of Birmingham is much better. However it is February and it is winter! - bring warm clothes and a raincoat and you'll be fine. Leslie

2,800 passed though the doors of 'Showzam Central' yesterday (Tuesday)! We are daily expecting even more and admission is FREE! - Come and visit Adrian & me at 'The Parlour of Prestidigitation'
Leslie. P.S. Currently, the weather in and around Blackpool is dull with some drizzle. No wind, no heavy rain and just what is expected at this time of the year!

Convention starts today - overlaps 'Showzam'. Expecting to see many international magicians visiting the Parlour of Prestidigitation - even if only to say 'Hello'! (and maybe buy a copy of 'Magictales' or 'Magictales Two'!)

Thanks to all of those Magicians who found the time to visit 'The Parlour of Prestidigitation' at 'Showzam'. Because of our activities at that event we only managed to see the Sunday Gala Show - Jeff McBride magnificent (as always).
We look forward to seeing you all again next year! Leslie.
