Hello Tony,
Based upon your experience and know how, which type of magic do you believe is more marketable and in demand in the main stream? comedy magic, sleight of hand magic, stage illusion magic, serious bizarre magic, hypnotism, mentalism or a straight comedy act. let's assume that they are all decent acts! Thank you! Cabrera

I would have to say a comdey magic act is very marketable. If you think about it, comedy magic can be done almost anywhere, cruiseships, tradeshows, private parties in homes or banquet halls, Vegas style revue shows. If the act is silent you have even more options around the world. I remember years ago at the Magic Castle the late Peter Pit would always say it was difficult to find good comedy magic acts. It's not only marketable in most cases it is also portable, which makes it easier to perform most anywhere.

Have you found many problems with doing a comedy act over seas? Mainly the language barrier... What have you done to get around this?

Hi Dave!
As I mentioned, it would be much easier to have a silent comedy act for over seas. I am fortunate to have a silent dove act that can be done anywhere. So for those situations, I would do the doves. |

Tony,
What's your view on the marketablilty of mentalism? Do you perform any mentalist effects yourself?

I think it can be sold. John Edwards really opened the market. He is a huge success. Though he is not a mentalist we can still ride his coat tails. If a entertaining show is written I think you can sell it. For me variety of material is very important especially in mentalism. Good luck!
