Hi Robbie,
Thanks for the mention Tony. I will be teaching hypnosis in Cork on February 15th to a small group of people. You can get a better feel for what I teach at our website http://www.headhacking.com and these free lessons http://www.youtube.com/how2hypnotise Message me direct if you want to join or have any questions. Regarding the original post about a hand stick. I find it interesting that this is considered basic. The truth is it is has felt like you have conscious control over your arm most of your life. For someone to take that away for a period of time is quite profound. It is not more advanced to make someone hallucinate or have amnesia. It is just a different suggestion. Ask any good subject, it is not taxing for them to hallucinate any more than it is to get stuck. Anthony Anthony

I don't disagree with Anthony.
However, I find when structuring a show of an hour or more in length, it enhances the theatrical arcs and the believability of a show if we don't let the audience know everything is as easy to achieve as the next thing. Just as we discover which volunteers are best suited to which suggestions and routines without the audience really noticing the work we're putting in. Some element of mystery has to be preserved. Otherwise, we might as well just deliver a lecture or a training course. Quote:

Whether its a suggestion or not its still basic. There is a huge amount of difference between sticking a hand to a table and doing a fully blown successful show. As you look down at your hand typing on the keyboard imagine you are wearing red nail polish. If you can imagine that as you type then you are hallucinating. You are crossing over between internal and external Visual modes. There is nothing special we do it all day long when we imagine something to be that isn't reality. We cross project and hallucinate constantly. Its just how we operate.
Sticking a hand to a table or any action is just an action its the meanings you or a volunteer attach to it that make it profound. The most profound experiences Ive ever had are with clients where no obvious stage type phenomena is present or needed. They can be utilized but they aren't necessary. There is also still a world of difference between someone who responds to a suggestion to hallucinate and who knows what is happening and someone who has been conditioned for a period of time to a point where they can't tell the difference. These are two different places arrived at by a similar process. I don't think we ever go into hypnosis because we are never out of it in the first place. |
