Hello everyone! Glad I managed to find a good forum after some time searching through the web. Quick bit about me. Ive just started to learn magic so trying to learn slowly and study books and DVDs, whilst also skimming over other material around to get ideas of what and where I want to be in the future.
After a month I'm just starting chapter 2 of Royal Road to Magic Who would have thought that the overhand shuffle would take time to get it right! Also still have problems with doing a run and take one card at a time, but I'm sure ill get it eventually as I am getting better slowly but surely. So have a couple of questions: 1) Living in Norway is causing enough problems getting hold of material (cards as a big example!), do you guys have any recommendations about a good international shop that doesn't charge the earth to ship to Norway? I accept slightly higher prices, but for example, Ellusionist want to charge $22 to ship here which is a bit much. Some Amazon shops wont even consider shipping to me... and as far as I'm aware, I havent found a location here to get even bicycle cards (although I'm waiting for a local shop to get some... fingers crossed they are the right ones!). 2) And based on that question, is Ellusionist all that they say they are? They seem to speak quite highly of themselves and also seem to be like the "premium" magic place. Are they worth spending money on? I don't mind spending money if it is worth it. Anyway, any help is welcome and look forward to have some good chats with people when I need help... which starts now |

Welocme!
My wife is actually from Bergen and we have been visiting there for many years. I love Norway but as you know I'm sure NORWAY IS EXPENSIVE! Probably the #1 most expensice country in the world at this time. Everything is expensive - even bottled water As far as magic, let me suggest you send a messge to Café member Mikael, a very dear friend of mine, who could probably give you some good advice. Perhaps send him a private message or email. Tell him Brett sent you. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/bb_pr......er=31296 Again, welcome to the Café! Vi Snakkes!!!

Also for Magic I buy most everything at Penguin Magic... they are #1 for many.
Ellusionist is quite good, Theory 11 is very good too - also I recommend Vanishing Inc and Hocus Pocus. Penguin and Hocus Pocus have the most inventory.

For playing cards I also recommend you buy the Phoenix Decks from Cardshark - they are located in Germany and the quality is exceptional. http://www.card-shark.de/

Welcome jamiehuckerby,
I can do a run but my tongue sticking out from the corner of my mouth may be a giveaway. LOL I guess very few people play card games in Norway. See you in "The Workers". -Mary Mowder |

Thanks for the messages and information. Should be a great place to start! Ill email Mikael as well and see what he says, maybe there are ways of getting hold of stuff easier here, at least he should know! Thanks for the tip.
Yes Norway is expensive but its not quite so bad when you live here... the price of cars are bad though :s I love it though, the way of life is much more relaxed than in UK and its a great place to have a family as well! I don't even want to think what faces I'm pulling at the moment! Still I can imagine that I'm doing something similar as it usually very obvious when I'm concentrating on some... I know I have a bad habbit of clenching my jaw when thinking too much.... So yes, see you in the workers |

I'm based in Sweden. I've used a Swedish online magic shop called http://www.gycklaren.com a few times. Give them a try - I'm sure they'll ship to Norway.

Great shop aheads, looks like this might be a viable alternative for me to use in Norway. Price are very good and the shipping is reasonable. Purchased some of those phoenix cards that Brett spoke about so we shall see how they compare to the bicycles that I'm currently using.
