I like the idea of Icon, but has anyone else thought:
Icon = Trademark nightmare? We can't even get a nice disappearing Ketchup bottle, but Icon is selling 49 replicas of distinct trademarks.

Logos may not even be used legally. Doesn't matter to me but it may to Apple etc. High price. Cards looks far too small for stage use. For me I would say pass even though I'm intrigued by the concept and method.

I have a feeling that part of the high cost of icon inolved liscensing those TMs. It doesn't really appeal to me, but I'm sure that the 50 people who do buy it will probably make something of it.

You really think they went through the process to license all the logos ?

I think you will be fine!
having seen this, its great! Price is right - keeps it in the hands of a few. Yes you could make your own, but that a question of personal integrity. This gives a performer the perfect opportunity to interact with the audience on topics which are known. I do agree with the size, this suits a smaller show as aposed to a full theatre stage show. perfect for parlour or house parties, this could be that fantastic close to a house party gig. I plan to pick this up so I will update you all on my thoughts when I have worked it. |

TTT...
Did the board break down for transport? |

Rest assured TTT, I wouldn't dream of making one; that would be highly unethical. Hope it works well for you.

It doesn't fold down, but you get a nice carry bag
The icons themselves are really great, well made and take a long time to make (so I'm told) it's a quality piece, hand made. |

Hi all. Without wishing anyone to reveal the method, are all of the numbers different, and can each tile be chosen from anywhere on the board, or is it one from each line? I really like the look of this, and the idea, but it's a lot of money to part with if I'm not confident that it is workable.
Cheers, Duncan. |

It's been a year, I guess I will answer Duncan's questions. The numbers are all different and yes, they can be chosen from anywhere. Several people have complained about the size; unless, you need to carry your entire show in a briefcase, iCon isn't too big. I drive a small sedan and it, along with the rest of my show, fits nicely inside. The size is just right for stage and while it will play awesomely in a parlor show, it begs for a larger venue. A few people have mentioned that icons and the lottery don't have anything in common, I guess that's true but a lot of the magic performed out there isn't logically tied With a common thread. I use the obvious premise of being influenced by marketing, society, etc. I tie it into the lottery with a "we're constantly being influenced, sometimes we know it and sometimes we don't." You can probably figure out where my patter flows. Anyway, great effect, love performing it; if you're a working magician, it's totally worth the investment.
