I am directing the Christmas show for our theater group this year and need to make a whole bunch of angel wings. I remember as a kid in the late 60's they sold art kits that were a combination or resin and wires. You would bend the wires in the shape of a flower for instance and dip it in the colored resin. You got kind of a quasi stained glass effect.
I was thinking for the angel wings I could bend the perimeter out of of wire, and dip that in liquid latex or some other type of resin, hang them up to dry and then attach fabric to the surface for strength. I am not even certain I am describing this properly. Imagine a bubble blower and how the soap substance adheres to the wire. Any suggestions? I know I could just sew the fabric to the wire frames but I am trying to avoid bulky seams around the perimeter as well as the time at the sewing machine. Thanks. |

Never mind. I came up with a different solution.
