Whitehead’s apartment was raided when he was convicted for stealing this occult book 2 years after he attacked Houdini!

http://houdini.org/whitheadstolenbook.html

Cannot put it all here but here are a few quotes from that wacky book! Check out actual scans with the link.

"I frequently found it strongly developed in the hands of the psychic type, where it indicated the possession of that curious gift often described as second sight…"

AND

"we may soon know more about the mediumistic gift…"

AND

"Unbiased people who have considered the evidence do not doubt that a true medium is possessed of some uncommon mental power; whether of telepathy or of receiving spirit communications…"

AND

"The best line I ever saw was in the hand of one of the well-known mediums for spirit communication. I am not a spiritualist, but I believe that the medium acquires knowledge of thoughts and facts by some unusual power of the mind"

WHAT OCCULT HOGWASH!!!

This all, of course, was not known two years before when he attacked Houdini after challenging Houdini's beliefs in the Bible. It is just one of many links we are uncovering about Whitehead and his character, movements and motives the week he unexpectedly brutally pummelled Houdini, that led to Houdini's death. Please read the two pages carefully to get an idea of the Hokum presented in this book that J. Gordon Whitehead was willing to risk going to jail for.

Let us know what you think and if this in any way changes your previous thoughts about Whitehead.

This makes it sound like Whitehead was a low-life that was turned into a patsy to take the fall.

That is an interesting comment.

The day after Houdini was punched in Montreal and in pain, he wrote his last little love note, that Bess found, setting up a "date" with Bess, that Houdini signed "Fall Guy"!

We decided to do another quick look at this book to see the kind of book J. Gordon Whitehead would steal and go to jail for a short two years after brutally punching Houdini backstage after challenging Houdini’s belief in the miracles of the bible, and not being happy with Houdini’s answer. Please remember when he punched Houdini he was in his thirties, and not a naive, teenaged impressionable college student, but a mature adult very well set in his ways. These are more word for word quotes from the book…

Chapter XIV
CLAIRVOYANCE AND THE MYSTIC CROSS

…the mark in the hand received the name of mystic cross because it was frequently seen in the hand of those who possessed the faculty of mystic vision…

…There may be only a portion of the line; it would then indicate less of the power of clairvoyance; there would be vague presentiments rather than a clear image or vision in the mind.

Pages 85-90

When we get a little more time we will scan more of the pages.

Age corresponding with maturity:
Prisons and mental institutions are filled with people in their thirties that don't think rationally. But I do agree that people in their 30s are often set in their ways.

According to Don Bell's final synopsis just before he died of the book "The Man Who Killed Houdini" he wrote of the books stolen by Whitehead for which Whitehead went to jail making Whitehead in fact an ex-convict...

"The titles of these books are surprising and very suggestive. One was "Famous Prize Fights", another "The Hand and the Mind." The latter as we have shown above talks of the belief and reality of spiritualism, mediums and contacting the dead.

Don Bell also says.."There is a chapter called "Books of My Life", which discusses book by-book what Whitehead had pinched or was known to be reading."

Don Bell died before he got to write this chapter as well as several others he mentions in his notes.
