"Estimation Aces" is a name that is frequently applied to the routine. The routine does not use Estimation. It is a precision routine and most of those who perform "Estimation Aces" have never read or studied the actual routine.

Thank-you bdekolta.

If you re-read the thread, you'll see that I specifically mention that I learned it from a Lorayne Video. Lorayne calls it "Estimation Aces" as well on his video. In the explanation section, he mentions that it is based on an Ed Marlo effect, but doesn't give the name of it.

I have a massive library, but only 3 Marlo books - and it isn't listed in them.

Well, you may just have to let that one go.
Gotta pick your battles you know.

In one of my sets I begin with 2Xfour card productions.firstly I use something very close to George McBrides ace production that he used on his Big blind media DVD, then I use Paul Gordon's ' Easy ace estimation'.( or close enough ). Or vice versa. I've been working on an impromptu ace production from a spectator shuffled deck by means of shuffle peeking/estimation cutting. It's going pretty well!

(by the way, I don't just produce the cards for no reason! The eight cards will be used for the next routine).

I use a few different ace revelations:
1. Halo Aces
2. Spectator cuts to the aces (Marlo and Trost)
3. Here and There (from Joshua Jay's DVD Talking about Tricks)
4. a John Bannon effect that uses his Discrepancy City Display
5. Molecule 2 4-card revelation (Buck Twins)

I use HaLo Aces and a version of a Steve Bedwell routine.

Cheers,

I like to use 4 different productions. Might choose from Piet Forton pop out, HaLo cut, Benzais spin out, Erdnase one handed cut production, Hot Shot cut, spelling to a card etc.

One of my favorites is a production by John Graham titled Master of Aces. What is really nice about this production is that it automatically sets you up for Larry Jennings's great trick titled "Always Cut the Cards."

I am hoping that my friend Magicfish passes through here and can remind me of a really cool production in The Elegant Card Magic of Father Cyprian. I sometimes perform it but I can't remember the name of the effect and I would have to dig like mad through my library to find the book. Magicfish knows this book better than I as he tipped to an effect in there that blew my mind. (He and I have had a long running "contest" to see who can find gems we each had previously were unaware of in our own libraries - he is winning 7-2) Smile

Back to Master of Aces: this is one of those productions that fits very well with a gambling sort of theme which is why I always include the Jennings effect afterwards using Max Maven's "ecological magic principle" wherein the remains of a previous effect set you for the next effect. The two work VERY well together with no muss or fuss or nagging red wine stains on your multimillion dollar Bokara (sp?) carpet.

Slainte,
Vlad

As a coin guy I don't know the names.

A. Aces lost in different parts of the deck.
B faro
C. Aces fly out of deck

Aces turn to kings. With a bit of Curry spice
Aces found face up in face down deck.

Umm if you prefer a flasy production then this is the one I had come up with called 'Miraculo Production' which made its appearance in Joshua Jay's Talk About Tricks Column of MAGIC Magazine on December,2012 issue. http://www.magicmagazine.com/2012/december/contents.html

Link to the video. It also has my handling for the Twisting the Aces. Smile
