I did use music for performing The Zombie/Astrosphere. I edited Pink Floyd's "The Great Gig In The Sky", using the haunting vocals of Clare Torry. About 2 minutes. I was flame-roasted and BBQed here in the Café for using copyrighted music, even though it was for private performances. I flamed right back, but...I lost.
Never again. If, and I mean if I need music, I go here: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/ There are other sites as well. So glad I found this! Doug |

I love using music in my performances. Although I only perform once for each client I have a selection of funeral dirges from around the world. I do try to avoid the ones I like to dance to. I guess my favorite funeral dirge goes like this:
A happy death day! A happy death day! Sin and sorrow fill the air, People dying everywhere. A happy death day! A happy death day! I like this dirge so much I sometimes replace death day with birthday and sing it at parties for the living. Just like birthdays, all funerals begin with FUN.

First, thank you all for your ideas and comments, After much thought and research I think I am going to use some very chilled atmospheric music thinking Philip Glass and similar for my tarot readings nothing with too much melody (my readings are straight no gimmicks) and for my Bizzare box routine, just my voice and the story. I work in theatre and music and photography for my day Job and have seen and heard music used to great effect. But also the power of one voice and a story can be so powerful. I am going to tread the silent path for the time being. Once again thanks guys

Since 1978 I've never performed the Zombie without this in the background:
