So far this year, my five year old daughter has been to A&E twice. The first time she split open her cheek at school, the little daredevil. They glued it together, and just as it was healing nicely, she again slipped over at school and split it open. Back to hospital and more glue, but it will be a worse scar.
Then tonight, my eight year old son was at a sleepover and we get a call. Split his forehead open on a cupboard door, off to A&E: butterfly stitches and glue. I said, "You were very brave." He said, "I didn't cry, but I don't know that I felt very brave." So proud. But for pity's sake! No more head injuries already. At least for a week or so. |

Yes, you are bang on. ER, if you will.
We had to hold our daughter down for the glue. Twice. Totally heartbreaking. |

(And you don't want to know what my very charming 15 year old boy has been up to. Grrr.)

I never saw, or even know anyone who had the glue proceedure. It does sound efficient, and definitely better than stitches in the lip. That would be heartbreaking to have to hold her down. Trying to hold back your own tears for her I bet.
I certainly hope they don't have any more of that for a long time. |

Thank you, Bazinga! Me too...
My wife tends to do the greetin', and I do the calm bit. For our boy tonight, she had to rush off and I watched over our daughter and her buddy, who's sleeping over here. As is usually the case, if I'm not there she holds it together. Great wife to have. That's why I married her. Or at least, it was somewhere on the list. |

When I was about four, I fell square on the stairs directly into the upper right area of my forehead, just over my right eye brow. My grandfather was living with us at the time and he adored me. He was born in 1885. My mother (his daughter) became exmtremely distraught about what to do. My grandfather calmed her down and told her to pack the wound with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. He said that if I had stitches it would leave a big scar on my forehead. They packed my wound with Vaseline, covered the wound, monitored it for bleeding and everything turned out fine. Today at 66 I have a barely noticeable half inch wrinkle on the spot where the wound was. How do I know all this? My mother told me. I vaguely remember it, but the scar is real. My only point is that kids have an amazing ability to survive most dings. But you do seem to have a run of stuff going on tomski, so may the accident prevention gods be with you and your family.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Thank you. Worse has been dealt in the past. Life goes that way, I find.

I feel for you and glad to hear your children are okay. Loved what your son said- it's one of those memorable things that will stay with you and you'll probably tell him about it when he gets older.
