… they are bringing the originals to people's attention.
Is it just me or have you noticed that there is a much better level of self-policing going on at the moment? In the past few months there have been a number of rip-offs that have not made it through the net. People have brought to light the unscrupulous actions of trying to pass off someone else's effect/routine as their own and the rip-off has been shot down in flames. On the flip side, the original has been brought to the fore and a whole new generation are introduced to it. This is good not just because it stops people ripping off others but he original is so much better. The creator puts his heart into it and you, the buyer, get all the benefits that come with it. You do not get a watered down version or a version that changes form the original just for the sake of trying to make it different. The Magic Café is not the be all and end all of the magic world, and it is a melting pot of magicians across a vast range of skill levels, experience, openness, humour, morals etc. However, when it comes to that three words strap line at the top (Magicians Helping Magicians) it can be a wonderful place that does so much good for magic. Anonymous posters will never stop arguing and insulting other anonymous posters (I find that so funny!) but I think there has been a shift recently of people saying that enough is enough when it comes to bad practice and loose morals. Long may that continue!
Creator of iconic magic that you will want to perform.

Yes, I have perceived the same thing recently. If, as a community, we not only shoot down the rip-offs, but cherish and support the ethical creators, then slowly a culture shift is inevitable.
At this point I would usually hurl a gratuitous insult at you, Jon, but you are not posting anonymously, which is very unsporting of you. |

This weekend, I found it odd that jay sankey gave away the original jack Kent tillar method for blisters, and also the exact same presentation that is in jkt's blister book too...he even referenced it onscreen...
so I hope he had permission to give it away...especially as the blister book is readily available...
I've asked to be banned

Well... I feel that drawing inspirations like from twisting the aces or maybe AW is great if its not the exact same effect and handling.
If a magician puts his twist - Either presentation, gimmick or handling wise or a modernised version, it is great as long as the credits and permission are sought where needed. |
