I learned the Crimp Change/Switch with both hands, because the routine ended up that way. An English Penny, a Kenndy Half and a Chinese Coin. My only addition was the JW. I am still working on phase 3. Marion gave me the tip on using the modified Ramsay. Thanks to Marion, I have a folder of UNIQUE Coin Magic.
I have to be able to CP & FP with both hands too. Spellbound requires it. My version does, anyway. Also being able to JW with either hand is crucial. My problem with the JW is, I am restricted to Half Dollar-size. Same with the Crimp Change. Ikes are just too big. The reason the CP is so important is, I have to do a C/O-P both ways. Right to left, then back. It's exactly the same as Larry Barnowski's Flying C/O-P in his book 21st Century Coin Mechanics. I began doing it back in 1977/78. I do it MUCH better today using Ikes. Yeah, Your Mileage May Vary...maybe there is no need to be equal with both hands. But anything I learn from here out, is using either hand. I will find a way to routine it. Doug |

Ouch.
Memories of learning the Crimp /De... Change with my left hand At 60 my hand seem to get a bit stiff. Don't remember that in my 20's.

Ha haaa! I know, right? I'm 58, and my pinky can't do a Tenkai! But the Crimp just worked with my Half Dollar stuff. It wasn't that hard. Remember gravity does most of the work. It's the best one-handed coin switch I know. David Roth, Mike Rubinstein, etc...all have a version.
I believe the actual coin switch was done in a coin book way back in the 1900's. Nothing new. But Marion brought it to a whole new level. He has a rhythm. You pick that up, and follow his direction, you see without a doubt how unique a direction he takes this, and other very old coin sleights. Look, go here and look on the right side, scroll down to Marion Boykin. The first one there is The Crimp Change: http://www.vinnymarini.com/download/ Look at the rest of the stuff he teaches! One And Only, Grandpa's Coins and REViSiTED! just to name a few. I love Short Pockets too. I mean spend ten bucks on Crimp Change and see if I'm right. You can do it with both hands if you keep at it like I did. Night and day, both hands...ouch is right, Harris! Doug |
