Has anyone found a source and specific name for rope for this trick in the US? Love the trick but my rope is fraying and have not found anything this soft in a Home Depot and a few tries on Amazon. Emailed Giovanni and hope to hear from him

Contact this place they can set you on the correct path.
http://www.baroniantrading.com/ Home Depot is the wrong store to be looking for all cotton magician's rope. Try a magic shop if you live near one. |

It is a Nylon double Poly-Braid, and you will not find it at Baronian or Home Depot. A Marine Supply store is the best source.
I found several usable sizes at a large Marine Supply store in my area. (Bellingham WA.) Hope that helps. |

Yes, normal magicians rope is not best suited for this routine.

In regards to the nylon rope, I've burned/ melted the ends of the ropes to prevent the ends from fraying, but have the following issue...
My issue with the nylon rope is that the fibers at the ends of the nylon rope get "hung up" (when one rope end passes in front of the other) as you're doing the initial move of "passing" the rope through the nut... Is it just me or has anyone else had or has that issue? What have you done to resolve the issue? allen |

If it is getting caught on your melted ends, I always tap the end while melting with my finger. I don't get the flame in contact with the rope for it melt.
They do have nylon braided magician's rope on the magic market. It also comes in colors. http://themagicrope.com/ http://empiremagic.com/?l=t&pageStewardLink=6417 http://www.icklepicklemagic.com/store/in......t_id=352 Many Hardware Stores and Home Improvement stores have white nylon braided rope. |

Thanks for all the tips. Too great a trick to stop doing. I saw a you tube video for sealing the ends. The guy put masking tape around the rope and then cut through the masking tape leaving the ends really tight. Then he lit the tape on fire and let it burn for a second. Perfect ends. I haven't tried it yet

You will have to contact the places, if I do it, I would have to charge you as a personal shopper fee. LOL Ickle Pickle also has blue and yellow, besides red. I would get colored as the white turns yellows dirty looking kind of fast. By still looking, does that mean you went to places like Home Depot and the local Do it Best Hardware store and looked at their selection? |

Sorry Bill I was responding to Magic from A to Z. Just saying that I have not pursued these options yet. Yes I have checked in my local hardware and Home Depot. They had braided rope but not close enough. I did not know till I started looking how much difference there was

Actually in my area I have found the exact rope at several Lowe's stores and all of the marine supply stores in my area also carry it. At Lowe's (again, in my area) it sells for $.46/USD per foot.

Menaards or Lowes both carry the right rope.
