Not really sure where to put this, but since it’s going into a book for beginners, let’s try here. Mods can please move it to the appropriate area.
I’m working on a simple booklet for BOR sales, targeted to “tweens”, that will teach a small number of card tricks that are completely or almost completely automatic. This is the tentative preface, and I’d like to get some opinions from other Magis. ----- The Magician’s Code First of all, you should know that really and truly, there is no such thing as a “Magician’s Code”. The secrets are out there, and anyone who wants to know badly enough can find out or figure out how it’s done! HOWEVER, it really is better for all of us if you don’t tell everything you know. Think about it. Most Magic is very simple. The fun is in the mystery! If you treat your Magic as some kind of puzzle, well, it’s pretty easy to figure out, and most people won’t appreciate how easily you fooled them. (It might even make them feel dumb!) But if you perform every illusion as if it was The Greatest Magical Mystery in the World, then not only do your friends not feel dumb any more, they’ll feel entertained, and will enjoy your sharing a little bit of “real” Magic with them! Be sure to practice before you show ANY trick, so you don’t accidentally reveal the secret, and when you perform, act as if you REALLY believe in the Magic. Your friends just might believe along with you. That’s fun for everybody! I wish the Very Best of Luck to you and to ALL of your audiences, throughout your whole career in Magic. …and remember… The trick doesn’t make the Magician. The Magician makes the trick!

It sounds good to me.
Did you get requests for a beginner's booklet? |

Thanks guys. It's actually for a local magic club for after show (BOR) sales. Kids (and grownups) will be able to visit our tables and purchase simple tricks like the ball and vase or plastic cups and balls (and hopefully become future club members!)

"Back Of Room". It's usually a table set up in the "back of the room" or in the hallway or foyer nearby, to sell merchandise or offer books or CDs.
