Hi, can you tell me if there are plans of the blue room in Steinmeyer's book? Do you know if it would be easy to perform it live on stage? I remember I saw the effect on TV once, but I don't remember the title of the special. It looked really magical. I think a woman appeared and disappeared in it...
I'd like to read your opinions on this. Thanks! |

The whole trick was explained in Magic Magazine some years ago. It took 3 or 4 of the best minds in magic and over $10K to make. The largest expense is the special gimmick that is like 10x20 feet.
It can only be done in a drawing room setting. They made it up for some special event that these Magic Thinkers have every so often. So if you would like to build a house for this trick only and haul the house around the country to show the effect that only lasts less than five minutes. Go ahead, I would pay to see it in person. This trick can be compared to the "Concept Cars" the big auto makers make. They are what everyone wants, but no one will ever own one. Bill By the way, it is called "The Blue Room". Bill |

Linking Ring Magazine, a few years back, had an interesting version of this... made small... that would produce a bunny. It would not be expensive to make. The hardest part would just be synchronizing the lights so one fades down as the other comes up...at the same time. After discussion with Thomas Wayne, one of this site's technical experts, I think there is a good and efficient way of doing that too.

I do many grand illusions as some of you may know. But the item you need for this trick is huge, hard to transport, and very expensive. It is out of my budget. I hope this helps. It is also hard to pull off the right timing of lighting etc.

The Blue Room and Pepper's Ghost use different principles.
The Blue Room isn't reliant on lighting. Gary |

If you get the chance to go to the new Lincoln library in Springfield, IL they are using this effect to great success. Its called "the haunted library" and it blew the audience away. Something old is new again.
