I have several TTs, but I absolutely love the material used in the TT-portion of D'Lites. Does anyone know of a regular TT that is made of that same material? Everything I own is much harder.
Thanks in advance! (I tried to find a more appropriate room in the forums for this question... there are so many darn choices, and not one of them seemed to fit!) Cheers, Lelando |

Lelando, once you get 50 posts other forums open up to you. It's been awhile since I had D'Lites in my hands, but they are softer as I recall, so I assume you don't like the harder plastic TT. Keep in mind that there are different purposes for either, some effects work better with one or the other, and the technique is often more important that the actual material. I don't know how long you have been in magic or what you are trying to do with a TT. Since you live in the Seattle area you should be able to find a brick and mortar magic store to go check out some of the variety that is available. If you go to an actual store, buy one of each type they carry and work with each one some. You may find that you want to keep all of them because one works better for a specific effect and another better for others.
PM me if you like and we can discuss this further.

My D'Lite Deluxe Set had 2 D'Lites, a TT and a VHS Tape. I know what you mean, Lelando! I LOVE that thing! Welcome to the Café as well!

Thanks, guys.
Yes, I do realize that the softer and harder tips each have their own pros and cons in different situations, and are both good to have. That said, for when a softer one is appropriate, the feeling of that D'Lite TT is my favorite. I have several TTs (mostly from Vernet) and even the softest of them is *way* harder than the D'Lites TT. I originally purchased only a single (color-morph) D'Lite, not a pair, and didn't even see a deluxe set w/ a TT & DVD (I assume, this day n' age). I will look for that, first, but otherwise, were it not for the cost, I was honestly tempted to buy another individual one and remove its guts. I look forward to other replies / suggestions. Cheers, Lelando PS - A brief tangent re: the suggestion to check a local brick & morter shop -- In the greater Seattle area, we have a single Brick & Morter shop, right downtown in the Pike St. Market (which is a bit of a drive for me, w/ expensive parking). Honestly, the handful of times I've gone in there over the years, it's been completely devoid of customers (I don't generally go on tourist-heavy weekends), and I didn't even see anyone working there many of those times. On the last occasion (over the holidays this past year), I saw an employee, but I was completely ignored as I stood at the counter for about 15-minutes, while he worked on their fortune-teller machine out front. I was sure he'd seen me walk in, and he walked past me twice to get tools or parts from behind the counter, but not once asked if I needed help or anything, avoiding eye contact entirely. And I know he wasn't just a repair-man, because I'd been ignored by him before (plus, I watched him pick up the phone to call for repair advice, which is when I left). I've had far better, and faster, service ordering from almost any of the major web-based suppliers, and most of my questions get answered with the power of this website and a bit of google-skill. I hate to say all this, because I really want to love my local brick & morter shop... but my experience there hasn't been a good one. I know this isn't the place to go off on this kind of tangent, and it's probably best if I left it at this, as I'm sure I have already said too much, and will probably start a flame war with someone else from the Seattle-area. Cheers! |

Hi lelando,
You have to check out Dave's killer magic shop In Vancouver Wa. It's about a 2 and a half hour drive From Seattle. Dave and Larry are awesome guys and the shop has all kinds of goodies to tempt your wallet. Another good place is Seattle Juggling and Magic. The selection is small but Jay, the owner is a great Guy and I believe the shop is growing. |

Good advice Andrew. The old brick and mortar shops are falling by the wayside because of the online shops. I guess they both have their advantages, but one you'll never get from an internet magic dealer is personal service. Sorry to hear that the store you have been to hasn't treated you well. If you go back, try engaging the person minding the store in conversation.

It's an even further drive for me (I'm about 45-minutes north of downtown Seattle, when there's no traffic), but still totally worth checking out. As for the one on Vancouver, I will surely make time to check it out in the future. I have family in Portland, so it's en route to/from any of those functions. Cheers! |

I really appreciate the advice re: B&M shops, guys. Before we derail too far from my original post, and since there are other rooms & posts within the forums to discuss that subject further, for now, let's get back to the issue at hand, which is, "Where in the @#$% can I find a regular TT that uses the same material as my D'Lite?"

I run 7 magic shops and we have all kinds of TT's to choose from. I have some even way softer than dlights. I find those kind of hard and rigid compared to some of the softer ones I have in stock. I'm located in Gatlinburg tn though. If you were being a soft one and can't find a good one locally I can ship for extremely cheap. Just let me know
