My wife and I are planning a trip to Sales Mass. on May 14-17 and I was wondering if anyone here has any 'must see' places while we are there besides the normal touristy locations.
My wife also asks if you know of any vegan restaurants too Cheers, Allan |

Rockport is nearby, yes....a touristy art colony on the bay....but OMG the seafood available...!!!
Every year I briught my family a couple times a year to see Le GrandDavide and Caesareo Palez (RIP),....but not sure if the Larcom theater in Salem still is open, or has some shows there, or can just be visited as a historical site, but worth checking into! Have a great trip....I grew up on the south shore in MA and lived there until 1991...still miss the ocean there and lots of great magic in New England.

A good paperback Mystery read for the trip, written by one of spooky's own.

Do not miss Count Orlocks nightmare gallery on Essex st. My favorite Salem attraction. Take your time and read the exhibit cards. You'll see favorites from all your favorite horror movies. The sets and figures are incredibly real.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the suggestions.
Doc: I'll check out the theatre, thanks! Eddie: Since I'll be driving I won't be able to read on the way down, but I'll it to my wish for when I get back. Steve: That looks very cool and is a short walk from where we are staying (Hawthorne Hotel) Thanks again guys! |

The last time I was there, and that was about 20 years ago, they had a great museum about the Salem Witch Trials. If my memory is correct, it was in an old church.
I would recommend that you see that if it's still there. Gerry |

Most of the witch stuff there is either overly-commercial, touresty, tacky, or steeped in fiction. And, I absolutely loved it all. One of my favorite places.
