Welcome gw0pin,
We have many non-performing hobbyists here so don't worry about that. As long as you have a real interest in Magic and can keep secrets you're a welcome addition. Glad you could finally join. The phone policy keeps a lot of good people out but it also helps keep the troll population down. Trolls can (and have) ruined a lot of good forums. I'll probably see you in "Table Hoppers and Party Strollers" -Mary Mowder |

Welcome gw0pin,
Hi. I don't know what your goals are in magic, but I think the magic community could use a lot of help in scripting magic. So much emphasis is placed on the tricks and performing tricks that not enough attention is given to scripting and performing. That's just my opinion. Whatever you do, enjoy! KJ |

Hi Julie
Many years ago in the early 70s I subscribed to the supreme magic company magazine, bought a lot of books and props from various dealers. Then after a few years my disability set in and lost interest. Then 5 years ago I watched a video of Slydini and brought it all back,I now use the computer for all media, where would we be without it.Regards.Peter |

Hello KJ
I suppose my goal in magic is to enjoy it and be happy,If I see a trick I like I will spend days, weeks trying to figure it out,iff I can't I may buy it. I then think of different ways of using it etc.I think I am a bit old fashioned I was brought up in the 60s.magic in those days was totally different, but you have to keep up with the times Peter |

And, when you do, are you curious about whether your method is the same as their method? I have done what you do on several occasions. Many times, I just run with my own method and don't bother finding out if their method is any different. However, several times I have purchase something even though I had a method for it, and on several occasions, I have found that their method was much simpler than my method. KJ |

Hi KJ
Yes I happens sometimes, I bought a wooden card rising box from the 50s and it took a week to arrive,So I got my pencil and paper out and worked out away to do it. I had a few ideas based on what I was told in the description, not of the workings, but the card actually lifts the lid,Anyway it arrived and I was way out,It was such an easy way to do it.I also bought a small business card wallet where the spectator draws something on the card places it in the wallet, then its revealed,The following day I was browsing online and I found something interesting then it clicked on how it was done,When the wallet arrived sure enough it was identical,But I do get a lot wrong PETER |
