I've just read the article Arnold posted here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=188
Even if it's always interesting to read something about gambling, the conference itself was probably more interesting. It seem that Gambling Protection is a big market in USA (even if I've been told it was on the decline, due to the financial crisis) I created this topic to debate about a question I ask to myself from a long time now: What is the impact of all these Gambling Protection conferences on the industry? You can simply think that if thoses conferences exists, they are positives for the industry, it helps to fight against cheaters. But if it was totally true, how do you explain that there is NO EQUIVALENCE in France? Oh yes we have some casino conferences through Europe, but it's more focused on the lastest products about slots machines, casino management software or the last cash/TITO counting machine... I often heard about lectures and demos done in American Casinos, but never heard similar thing in a French Casino.. When the Phil Ivey cheating case pop up on internet, I've read a lot of articles where the scam was (relatively) well detailed explaining what edge sorting was, how it was done, how much advantage you get with this technique... In comparison, search for details about the marked cards scams at the casino Les Princes in Cannes... It seem there is two schools: - Over exposing the technique, so maximum casino staff can protect the game against this technique. - Not exposing the technique at all, so few people can duplicate it. Two opposite approach which have the same goal: protecting the industry against cheaters. Jackouille |
