Hello,
I'm having some issues with thumb fan. As you can see it is not quite circular but looks a little spiralling. Do you have any tips for me? Other tips about the fan are also greatly appreciated. Apart from the not quite circular shape this is the most beautiful my fans get at the moment. Sander |

I thought I added the picture in my post, but apparently it was too big. Unfortunately I'm not in time to edit the post to add the picture, but here it is:

The image still isn't showing up for me, Sanderr. I'll try uploading a photo of my thumb fan and let's see if it works.
While I'm not great at the thumb fan, I think I do it reasonably well. It's one of those knacky moves that I needed to do a lot and experiment with in order to make the fan more even. While you're working on this, you might try experimenting with the pressure fan as well. I'm not so good with this one, but performed well you can get a very large, even, and pretty looking fan. |

That's weird, I embedded it in my post and it shows up for me. I will just give you the direct link, that must solve the problems. http://i.imgur.com/4iHbTNV.jpg

Take 2 on trying to post my thumb fan image. I would edit my first response, but I can't when there's been a reply already.

I took a look at this topic on my phone and your image shows up perfectly. It's probably related to the network I'm currently using to read the Café.
My guess is that maybe you're allowing the cards to rotate around a shifting axis. Assuming you hold the deck in your left hand and then spread the fan with the right thumb, try imagining a spike going down your left thumb straight through the deck. When you spread the fan with your right thumb, try to keep every card rotating around that imaginary spike. At least, that's how I think of it. Perhaps someone with more experience will chime in and help us out. Dave |

Those cards look a little old too. Newer decks usually get me a much more even fan. Depending on the starting position as well, moving the deck away from your thumb (to the right looking at your thumb holding a deck of cards in your right hand) and then fanning gives a fuller fan.
