February 2007, Jim Steinmeyer gave us an article dissecting a letter Harry Kellar wrote to Thomas Chew Worthington giving an abbreviated history of himself. For the most part Steinmeyer points out all sorts of things that Kellar said or implied in the letter, but one thing he didn't comment on and I was struck by it;
Kellar's letter Harry Kellar, prestidigitateur, was born in Erie Pa, July 11, 1849, son of Francis P. Kellar and Catherine Antonio Kellar Now, what struck me as soon as I read that was that I'd heard was that Kellar had been born Harry Keller with an "e." So his parents would hardly be Kellar with an "a."
