I see the car sign a little like those free pens with the business name on it. Nobody is going to say, I called because of that cheap ball point pen I have. LOL. Yet that little pen could have very well been a good reminder of who to call.
I personally haven't used the car signs but I know some that swear by them. And for some I can see where it is just another way to keep your name out there. Some people may need to see your name more than once before they call. I say keep it out there as much as you can. Tom

Wow. Leave for a couple days and a conversation erupts. lol
Thanks for the great thread you guys. You all make great points. I'm leaning toward getting them because of the cost versus possibility of contact aspect. Even one show will pay for them and as Tom says, it's just another way to keep your name out there. It's not too much of a gamble and I have designed some nice looking signs, just haven't pulled the trigger on them yet. I also like the idea of the back window sign. Time to start pricing those. Thanks! Theodore-

I say cover the whole car and I have seen many do that. I personally only use back and front bumper stickers as most of my advertising is done by my clients for me since I already established myself in my area 30 years ago. Also when most drive around they tend to be focused on other things, and should be focused on driving and not looking for entertainment to hire as it flashes by. So I never really felt the need to make my vehicle a mobile like my friend did. I still think most find him by his business cards, brochures, word of mouth, and repeat referrals as well.

I need to share this: This morning I had a daycare show locally. I drove to the venue with my magnet signs on the sides of my car and my car was parked right out front where anyone coming into the building would easily see it. While I was setting up for my performance I overhead the daycare director talking to a parent who had just brought their child in to the daycare. The director said: "Today all the children are excited because we have a magician here to entertain them." Now here is what the parent said: "I know...I saw the car outside" (with the magnet signs) That does it! I am going to put some business cards out on my car from now on too--like was mentioned earlier here.
