Last weekend my son and I went and seen Peter Noone,( Herman's Hermits), along with Mickey Dolenze of the Monkees. Mickey comes out first, does about an half hour of songs. He hardly spoke to the audience, but when he did it was all about him. Stuff like Niel Diamond wrote this next song for ME, Boyce and Heart wrote this song for ME. Or he would say how HE took this next song all the way to number 1 on the charts, the funny part was half the songs he talked about and sang were ones that Davey Jones sang. Not once did he mention anything about Davey passing away a little while back. The topper was after the show, Mickey and Peter were out front signing autographs. You had to go by Mickey to get to Peter. Mickey had this big security guard standing next to him. Right in front of us was this lady, you could tell she was a huge fan, had the Monkees shirt, poster, picture, all sorts of stuff. She first hands him the picture, without looking up he grabs and signs it, she ask's if she can get a picture with him, again without looking up replys, nope, I don't do those, she then hands him a album to sign, he then looks up and tells her, one item per person and gives it back. Wow!, That lady was real close to tears after that. What a creep. Then we get to Peter, What a guy, he shakes everyones hands, ask what their name is, thanks them for coming out, posing for photos with everyone, Signs anything and everything,a super nice guy.

Yes, Peter Frampton. Walked right past us like we weren't even there.

The first concert I ever attended was Herman's Hermits. Fun to hear that Peter Noone is still around and a nice guy.

Peter has a crazy tour schedule. This was the first time I've seen him. Great musicians with him. Very funny. Made a lot of jokes about himself. He even did very good impressions of Tom Jones, Mick Jagger and Johnny Cash.

What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

This comparison of Rihanna's meet & greets with Avril Lavgne's is pretty funny,...and sad.

Quote: Arthur and I discussed this story in another thread. He agreed that sometimes Frampton could be a real Peter.

I've never met a musician, but I did have a similar response from Jonathon Frid (Barnabas from "Dark Shadows") who was very abrusct (sp) and also would only allow one item to be signed.
This last actually makes sense as I saw people at science fiction conventions bringing stacks of books for Isaac Asimov to sign which slowed down his autograph table quite a bit. This leads to a fictional story in a book called "Bimbos of the Death Sun" where a well known, very rude author (it's a murder mystery and he gets killed halfway through) is signing books when someone comes in with a dozen to be signed. The author brings up the fact that the "fan" is slowing down the line and the "fan," almost as rude as the author states that he doesn't care and that the books will be worth a fortune when the author dies, the author smiles grimly and signs each and every book. Later the "fan" shows up furious that the author signed every book with a different author's name!

I met Mikey Dolenz in an elevator in Charlotte NC (where he was performing with Peter Noone). I found him to be cordial, though some may say stand offish. This was before Davey Jones passing. However both performers were fantastic in concert.

Dr. Dulusion, Thanks for posting your story. I find it disheartening when people wouldn't be in their current place without their fans and act like Divas.
Which brings me to Randwill's post - Wow! That kinda surprised me as I would have thought it would have been the other way around! I had heard Rhianna was a diva but guess not and I enjoyed viewing the pics with her fans. I'm disappointed in Avril...there goes the image of nice Canadians. :O) Lastly, someone sent me this link on my FB page of Bruno Mars and a young fan which brings tears to your eyes. It's of a young girl who lost her mom and two sisters to a horrific car accident and who suffered brain injury herself. Her road to recovery led to her singing songs from her favorite artist, Bruno Mars. He not only invited her to his concert but sang to her. It's a beautiful vid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QdSrMozltA |

Peter Noone is one of the good guys. You can catch him doing complete hours on his friend's radio show, The Dennis Miller Show.

I saw a concert where Van Morrison had his back turned to the audience almost the whole show, played harmonica more than he sang, and looked pretty bored. But back stage (where my wife and friend snuck in) he was very warm and friendly and signed autographs, (but no pics which was the facility policy!). We could also talk about friendly musicians... I'd have to rate Joe Strummer up there with the best. At one show in SF, he invited everyone backstage. Also in recent times, Led Kapaana (famous Hawaiian musician) came out in the lobby of the theater to chat with the audience. Things like that outweigh the stuck up snots. Lynn

Never met a famed musician.
Met some very friendly actors at cons, including Malcolm McDowell, Doug Bradley and voice-artist John Kassir (The Crypt Keeper; Buster Bunny).
