The family watched "1776" while I was at work, when I got home, we watched "Captain America - The First Avenger" and now we're watching "Independence Day."

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

I like "1776," although I'll admit some of the side characters are grating (I'm looking at YOU Richard Henry LEE.)

Independence Day always bothered me. I can't hardly get a PC to talk to a Mac but no trouble hooking right up to an alien computer. Plus if you can fly a crop duster certainly flying an alien space ship made to be picketed with testicles is a breeze.

Quite amazing how people live in a world of fiction today. What day is Star Wars day?

Having said that; Jeff Goldblum's character WAS supposed to be a computer genius, AND the aliens were supposed to be using our technology to coordinate their own systems, so it's not TOO outrageous that he'd be able to develop a virus for their system. I do think it was odd that he was able to develop a graphic (the skull) as well! Um, the "crop duster" doesn't fly the alien spaceship, the fighter pilot (Will Smith) does. And he even acknowledges that it's all "BS"
