I have seen this type of illusion many times but I have not been able to find any literature covering it.
the effect is. Magician walks onto stage and takes out a folded up paper bag. The bag is unfolded, the magician then proceeds to remove several solid objects out of the bag that was just folded. The objects are always solid and could not have been present in the bag when it was in the folded position, or the objects are larger than the bag itself. I do know how to produce say a wand out of a folded paper bag, but I would very much like to see the procedure for other objects as well. I was told that Eugene Berger has a book that addresses this type of trick. The illusions name was "Big Surprise". What book or books contain this trick or ones similar? Are there any dvds on the subject?

The Zone Zero instructions(mine is VHS=old)has a ball or whatever from a folded paper bag. It uses the same slight as Zone Zero.

If I would do it, I would use body loads.

+1 for body loads! RJH has the right idea.
There is a trick on the market where you unfold a paper bag and take out a box of flowers. Then show it empty and remove another box. 4 or 5 boxes in total and each time you show the bag empty. Its a wonderfully made prop and may suit your needs. |

Well to make it a little more clear what I want.
yesterday Michael Carbonaro did exactly what I'm looking for. He took a flat bag picked it off the counter opened it and pulled out a large muffin while wearing short sleaves. I do not know how zone zero works or if there are angle problems.

Ok that is along the same line. These magicians are referring to a Eugene Burger move. I tried look up "big surprise" and did not find anything did I get the name of the trick wrong?

The bit you are referring to was the endless lunch. The method was not something that could work for your everyday use. Unless you were on a stage with specialized backdrops. It was based on a stage illusion called Things That Go Bump In The Night. A similar method was at work here. Hope this helps you! PM me if you need more details. |

I want to congratulate you for looking in Fulves book and looking for the answer on your own. So often, people come here and expect everyone to "just answer their questions" without doing any work and not contributing. In the future, you can expect a lot of help here. Welcome.

I did get zone zero and it is pretty neat but is there a trick just like this but can be used to vanish and produce objects that are odd shaped with corners and edges? The Fulves book is great for producing out of a scarf but requires certain items that I do not wear. If you guys saw Wizard Wars I am looking at what they did with the paper bag and the can of SPAM both in and out vanish/production.
