I believe magicians not only seek out ridiculous names to lower our status on the proverbial totem pole but we actually seek out the worst jokes possible to use in our acts.

You're warned,..
yesterday, we had 32*, in the shadow,.. hot stones,.. ,we played,.. the mind went for a walk between Shows two and three.... I saw a Gypsy Beggar on crutches (True!),.. Tony Hertz. (Wait!,.. they get worse!) a Magician specialising in the Lemon trick? Bill Sour a Card Thrower? Chuck.... The guy working with Needles? Taylor Woody and Willi Leave,.. Twins? Terry, with his Newspapers the best, I actually read in a Max Malini letter. When starting with his Egg Bag, he considered/tried using a REAL Egg. He wrote a friend in Berlin, he considered changing his name to 'Omelett'(!). (it seems, a characteristic of 'the Great', is this ablity to laugh at them selves,.. and their Art) keeping smiling,.. at least then,. folks might THINK I'm great(!). gallagher |

I had the extreme honor of attending a lecture by Irv Weiner back in the early 80's. To this day I still do his "Red Tape Thumb Tie" at corporate shows.
For those who do not know of him, his stage name was "Mr. Fingers" I always thought that was a cool nerdy magician name!

Hey Giz,
'Kinker the Clown' reminded my of the first 'professional' performer I had contact with. Also a children's clown,.. 'Knuckles' I'll try to include a foto from the back of "The Laugh-Makers" Nov.'83. The Mystery Castle, Columbus, Ohio, was advertising.. 'Games for the Silly' Kid Party Fun ",..for Magicians or Clowns" by,...... Dr. Doom |
