Hi,
I'm just wondering, to be doing professional, paid work as an adult (specifically in the UK) are there any sort of licenses or checks or qualifications or stamps of approval that you need (legally)? And also, what are things that aren't required but look good to potential bookers or even other magicians? For example, in England it's good to be able to say you're a member of the Magic Circle etc. Be interested in anything related. Thanks, Sam |

Ask the member named Marmen. He knows more about that.

There are many British members here who will help you better than me. I don't live in the UK any more. I am not aware of any licences you need although I think kids entertainers require something or other for certain venues. You won't need it for simple birthday parties though. As for being a member of the Magic Circle it might do you some good if a layman books you since everyone in England has heard of the Magic Circle. However, for many more sophisticated buyers like agents etc; it won't mean a thing because they know that being a member of the Magic Circle might still mean you are crap like most of the members there.
Still, as I said any of the British members here who actually live in the country will advise you better. Perhaps you should tell us how old you are and how long you are doing magic? |
